
Harriet Backer 1845-1932
The exhibition was a cooperation between Bergen Billedgalleri and Nasjonalgalleriet and the first major separate exhibition of Harriet Backers paintings since the exhibitions at Kunstnernes hus and Bergens kunstforening in the spring of 1964. In addition to works from the collections of the two galleries paintings from other museums and private collectors were also exhibited. The exhibition covered the whole of Harriet Backers production as a painted from early works such as A Mill and Little Red Ridinghood painted while a student at the schools of J.F. Eckersberg and Knud Bergslien in the 1860s and 1870s, and until her last paintings Interior from Vendelsborg from 1924 and the at her death unfinished Still Life, "The Eternity Painting".
